KRONOS9 is an autodidact ill-hop visionary of the ambient/glitch persuasion who casts twisted beats across the existential void. “I get paid cause I put in the work” says KRONOS9 and over the past 17 years he has delivered commissioned compositions for MTV Latin America, Viacom, writing and performances with The NAG Champions, sound installation and collaboration with the artist Laura Marsh and collaborations with Danny Maal, Chez Mille and others.
KRONOS9 draws inspiration from what he refers to as “compulsive free-range sampling.” These are the random and serendipitous sounds which he samples and often uses as the foundations to his lush soundscapes. When asked for notable musical influences KRONOS9 answered, “My basic influences were DJ Krush, Depeche Mode, Tomita, RZA, Dan the Automator, Autechre, Milles Plateaux, and all of the classical music my parents played on the weekends.”
His latest release is the limited edition of 500 vinyl pressings of the album titled PHREAKER. The PHREAKER album was conceived as a bespoke soundtrack for KRONOS9’s book CODE POET - a 2017 collection of experimental poetry. KRONOS9’s mission is to “create timeless, groundbreaking music for iconoclasts and contrarians.” Looking for a sound you’ve never heard before? Just press “START” on your turntable.
